The terms for using ReadAwesome, written to actually reflect what the product does - not boilerplate.
By creating an account or using ReadAwesome, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
ReadAwesome is a focused reading platform: upload a document or paste an article link, and read it word by word, sentence by sentence, or paragraph by paragraph, at your own pace. Every reading feature is free for individual readers, permanently. Paid plans exist only for schools, companies, and other organizations that need member-management and reporting tools - never for an individual's own reading.
You sign in with Google, or, if you join a Shared Read via a shared link without an account, we create a lightweight guest account for you automatically. You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in secure.
Provide accurate account information, and don't create an account to impersonate someone else or to evade a suspension.
Only upload content you have the right to upload and read - don't use ReadAwesome to store or distribute material that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights, or that's illegal.
Don't attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service, scrape it beyond normal use, or reverse-engineer it beyond what applicable law allows.
Don't use Shared Reads, friend requests, or the public profile feature to harass, impersonate, or spam other users.
You keep ownership of the documents and articles you upload. You grant ReadAwesome the limited license needed to store, process (for example, extracting text or generating a cover image), and display that content back to you, and to anyone you explicitly invite into a Shared Read with you.
We don't claim ownership of your content, and we don't use it for anything beyond providing you the reading experience - no training AI models on it, no selling or sharing it with third parties.
Automated text extraction (from PDFs, DOCX, EPUB, or OCR on scanned pages) is not perfect and may occasionally misread or drop content from the original file.
Every reading feature is free for individual readers, with no trial period and no feature that later moves behind a paywall. Donations are entirely voluntary and unlock only cosmetic extras (a badge, an exclusive theme, an avatar frame) - never a reading feature.
Organization plans (for schools, companies, and similar institutions) are a separate paid arrangement for member-management and reporting tools; individual members of an organization still read for free.
Shared Reads, friends, the public leaderboard, and the public reading profile are all opt-in. If you join a Shared Read, your reading progress in that group is visible to its other participants. If you turn on your public profile or the leaderboard, the information shown there (level, streaks, achievements) becomes visible to anyone with the link, or to other users, respectively - you can turn either off anytime in Settings.
The ReadAwesome name, logo, and the software itself belong to ReadAwesome and aren't licensed to you beyond what's needed to use the service as intended.
You can stop using ReadAwesome at any time; see our Privacy Policy for how to request deletion of your account and data. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, misuses the service, or poses a security risk to it.
ReadAwesome is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and automated document processing may occasionally produce imperfect results.
To the extent permitted by law, ReadAwesome and its operators aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
We may update these terms as the product changes. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use ReadAwesome after a change means you accept the updated terms.
